American Bar Association

The bar exam is a pivotal moment in the journey of becoming a Juris doctor. It is a comprehensive exam that tests aspiring lawyers on their knowledge and understanding of the law.
The Bar Exam is a standardized exam created by the National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE) to test the knowledge and skills of law school graduates in the United States to become licensed professionals and practice law.
The bar (with swinging door doors) in an American courtroom is that which separates the judge's and attorneys' bench from the public viewing area tables in the foreground. The term bar is also a metonym used to define the set of attorneys licensed in a given jurisdiction.
The exam can be given twice a year, which is usually in the months of February and July. If someone fails it, it is common for them to repeat it on the next date.
